Welcome to my site!
From this site, you may get a view on my scientific activity and interests.
The goal of my scientific research is to understand how galaxies and large structures have formed over the 13.5 billions year of the Universe’s life.
At this purpose, I make use of the most advanced telescopes available, from ground and space, to observe and study the objects formed in the earliest epochs of the Universe.
The underlying physics is very complex, resulting from the interaction among different phenomena. For this reason, I also work on the development of theoretical models designed to compare with the observations. Look at my Science page for further infos.
A full list of my publications is available here.
The large amount of data produced by modern instrumentation requires the development of dedicated software tools and the management of large databases. This is another area where I’m particularly active in. Other info & documents are available here
Finally, I also have a set of “institutional” committements in INAF (Istituto Nazionale di AstroFisica). Among the others, I am currently the Director of the LBT Italian Coordinating Facility. Other info & documents are available here
