Eleonora Loffredo

I am a TD researcher at the Observatory of Rome, with a strong passion for astrophysics and a particular interest in multi-messenger astronomy.
My research focuses on binary neutron star (BNS) mergers, among the most energetic phenomena in the Universe, and on their associated electromagnetic transients, particularly kilonovae. In recent years, I have worked on improving the microphysical modelling of BNS mergers through numerical relativity simulations, as well as on modelling kilonova emission. At the same time, I have investigated the detectability of kilonovae with next-generation gravitational-wave observatories and optical telescopes, with particular attention to the Einstein Telescope. My current research aims to improve our understanding of r-process nucleosynthesis in BNS mergers.
