Luigi is Senior Astronomer at INAF, Osservatorio Astronomico di Roma, and Professor of High Energy Astrophysics at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. He worked for nine years in the US, Germany and the Netherlands and has taught in four different universities. His research work, published in over 400 refereed articles, has dealt mainly with neutron stars, black holes and associated paroxysmal phenomena such as gamma ray bursts and gravitational wave events. Since 2006 he is listed among the Highly-Cited Researchers in the field of Space Sciences by Thomson Reuters-Clarivate Analytics. He is Scientific Editor of the American Astronomical Society and the Astrophysical Journal.
