Andrea Melandri

I am a staff researcher at INAF since 2018, currently at OAR since 2022.

My research activity is focused on the study of multi-wavelength properties of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) afterglows and Supernovae (SNe) through optical and near-infrared (NIR) observations performed with different telescopes. I am also scientifically involved on the optical and NIR observations and characterization of the electromagnetic (EM) counterparts of gravitational wave (GW) sources. As member of various collaborations with approved observing programs at many ground-based facilities I have an active role for the late time follow-up campaign of such events (data acquisition, reduction and interpretation). Moreover, as a member of the Swift-XRT team, I am involved in the X-ray follow-up and subsequent characterisation of GRB afterglows and possible X-rays counterparts of GW signals.

In particular I work on: evolution and multifrequency studies of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), supernovae (SNe) and kilonovae (KNe); X-ray/optical/infrared follow-up of transient events, X-ray/Infrared/optical spectra of GRBs, SNe and KNe.
