Acoustic oscillations and dynamo action in giants

The role of the magnetic field in determining the angular momentum  transport in stellar interior is still an open issue. Acoustic oscillations are directly affected by the presence of a large-scale magnetic field but their study can provide fundamental information on the properties of the magnetic fields in solar-like stars. As an example the case of  EK Eridani, a slowly rotating, overactive G8 giant, will be presented.  Moreover the possibility to use asteroseismology to solve the  long-lasting mystery on the origin of magnetic fields in Ap stars will be discussed.
